Warming up

October is almost here, which means that the weather will be getting chilly. And I'm prepared! This is what I dressed myself in the other week when Mom said it was cold outside...

Bring on the fall weather!

Fuggedaboutit!

Did you know that I live in the same place that The Sopranos would routinely film? So I've decided to embrace my Jersey roots and start wearing the official state uniform.

Fuggedaboutit!

You wanna piece of me? Come at me, bro!

Bada bing!

Barrette bonanza!

People think I've been anti-barrette lately because I don't let Mom and Babcia put them in my hair. But the truth is, I don't like having just one or two barrettes; give me a couple dozen, and I'm perfectly happy! Babcia had the silly idea last week to put them all in and I loved showing them off. Here's a closeup look at all of them:

When Dad took another photo, I made a very scary face. Don't be frightened!

While I was showing off my new hairstyle to Mom and Dad when they got home from work, Henry was playing with a new "toy": my booster seat (it was briefly in the porch as it traveled between cars).

Here's a video of me showing off my barrettes — and Henry going nuts with my booster seat!

Great Adventureland

All summer we'd been trying to get together with Audrey and Carl (and their mom, who is Mom's childhood friend). Last weekend, we finally had the chance. We all visited a family amusement park called Adventureland close to their home in Long Island. We loved going on all the rides: helicopters, boats, trains, swings...

As much as I enjoyed going on the rides, I loved spending time with Audrey even more. We immediately started gabbing and giggling like best friends!

And look at this super-cute photo of us after we went on the log flume, and got all wet!

Here's a video of our great day at Adventureland.

Have a great weekend!

Sweet 16

Yesterday was my 16-month birthday. While I haven't been nearly as chatty as Julia was when she was my age, everyone will be happy to know that I'm finally saying some words. My two favorites of the moment are "door" and "ball," and you can hear both in the video below (I say "door" right in the beginning, so don't miss it).

And while some things change, others remain the same: there are few things I enjoy as much as closing the door on someone I love. Take a look:

In case you were worried, I do know what a ball looks like. I usually point to one and then say "ball," but it just so happened that there weren't any balls around when Dad asked me to say the word.

Aren't I irresistible?

Imagine all the people

It's hard to believe, but I've never talked on the blog about one of my very best friends: Alexandra. Because I talk about her all the time, and tell very elaborate stories about her various adventures. I wish I could show you pictures or a video of her, but she's very shy (Dad says it's because she's "imaginary," whatever that means). But I did want you to know about her, so check out this video where, after some initial hesitation, I open up about Alexandra:

Cheeky treat

I got my face painted last week, and knew exactly what I wanted the lady to put on my cheek: ice cream!

It looked so good that Dad kept trying to lick my cheek! He's so silly.

Photographic memories

Remember that digital camera I got for Christmas? The one for kids that actually takes pictures? I had mostly forgotten about it myself, but then my Uncle Joey and his girlfriend Natalia — who are visiting from Ukraine — stayed with us for a week during their time in the States. Uncle Joey is a terrific photographer whose work has appeared in places like The New York Times and The New Yorker, and he inspired me to start using my camera again — and more importantly, to actually focus on what I'm taking a picture of. As a result, I've taken hundreds of pictures in the past week (full disclosure: most of them have been of the TV while Lion King is playing), and here are some of the best.

Uncle Joey took the one of me that you see in there. Speaking of him, here's some pictures I took of Uncle Joey and Natalia:

As I mentioned above, I've been taking pictures nonstop of Lion King as I watch it, but I'll only show you one here. It's my favorite scene in the movie, where Timon and Pumba dress in drag and do the hula to distract the hyenas.

Babcia and Dido also clowned around with me so I could take some silly pictures of them.

Henry kept reaching for the camera whenever I took his picture.

When I wasn't looking, he took the camera himself.

Nice try, Henry, but you don't know how to take pictures yet!

Thanks Uncle Joey for inspiring me to start taking pictures again. I really miss you and Natalia!

Jessie's girl pajamas

It's getting cooler outside, which means it's time for me start sleeping in warmer pajamas. Good thing I got the perfect ones...

I love Toy Story...and I love Jessie!

Ask Julia & Henry: 9/15/10

Julia answered some questions the other week, and I was all set to do the same today. But Julia had so much fun with her first video mailbag, that she decided to do another one, this time answering of all my mail (along with a few questions that Dad had for her). So without further ado, here are my answers — make that Julia's answers — to the questions that Aunt Rebecca sent in to me.

You heard her: Julia is loving this so much, that going forward we're going to do video answers to all our Ask Julia & Henry mail. That means you need to start sending us questions so we can do this again soon!

Back to school

Yesterday was my first day back at school. This is the second of three years I'll be going there. Last year I was in "nursery school," this year I'm in "preschool," and next year will be "pre-K." Then I guess I'm done after that, right?

Some of my friends were crying on the first day, but I, as usual, was completely happy to be there. Henry wished he could have come too; at last week's orientation, he was giddy about all the toys there that he could play with! Sorry Henry, you have to wait until next year!

Give us a hand-me-down

Julia and I pass along our toys and clothes to a lot of our younger friends, but every once in a while we're the ones who benefit from hand-me-downs. When we visited Andrew and Lucie the other week, we came home with a bunch of their old toys, and started playing with them immediately. As you can see, I liked them alot!

Unfortunately, I think some of those toys were on their last legs and our lovefest was the last straw, so they already stopped working. It was fun while it lasted though...

Cash and carry

While Henry was busy running all around, I spent lots of time at Grandpa and Grandma's house playing with one of Dad's old toys: a cash register. What fun!

I love selling people things! Take a look:

During our visit, we also got a chance to see Dad's friend Sara and her baby girl Marley, who's now almost 3 months old. She's so cute!

No cash, no service! See you next week!

Inside job

You saw me going wild in Grandma and Grandpa's backyard, but I had plenty to keep me occupied inside as well. But before I get to that, isn't my button-down shirt so cute? I look so grown up!

Inside, I had a ton of toys to play with, like the firehouse and ambulance cars.

But as usual, I most enjoy playing with things that aren't toys. If you leave an object within reach — for example, car keys — I'm going to figure out a way to play with it!

When it came time to celebrate Aunt Paula's birthday, I "helped" her open her gifts.

And check out that yummy birthday cake!

Here's a video of me cutting loose inside the house.
